We always have fun Easter weekend, with hunting eggs and coloring eggs. We usually color eggs on Good Friday. Then, I usually try to eat as many as possible myself before they go bad, because no one else wants to touch (or smell) them! This year, however, all 3 kiddos begged me to try the eggs. Turns out, they are really enjoying them!! They're like their mom, though. They only want to eat the white part, and it has to have a little salt applied 1st!
On Easter Saturday, we usually do our fun Easter egg hunt, which means their treat baskets are replenished for awhile! My husband & I let it be known that mom & dad do accept donations, and the kiddos have tuned into the fact that it sometimes helps us say, "Ok, we can have a treat" after supper if they offer a donation. (Don't tell them I bought us a stash too! After all, it helps them learn to be generous, right?!!)
On Easter Sunday, after church, we have an Easter Story Egg Hunt. (Think homemade Resurrection eggs, if you know what I'm talking about!) Each of the kiddos finds 4 of the Story eggs, and we open them and go through the Biblical Easter Story together!
Oh, one more tradition is buying a new family devotional for Easter. This year, since it was for all 3 kiddos, I wrapped it in 3 layers. Our son got to open the outer gift, labeled for him. Then, he got to a box labeled for our middle girl. Then, she got to the inner gift, labeled for our youngest to open. This year, I got them the book "Jesus Calling For Kids". I'm reading the adult version, and I love it, so I thought the kids version would be great for our family. Plus, all 3 kiddos got a turn unwrapping the gift!
Well, there you have it! Those are our Easter traditions! I hope you each had a Wonder-FULL Easter in Him!!
